It produces Dust, and they eat Dust, maybe? As you explore each floor of the building/structure/arcology thing you've crashed into, unpowered rooms will periodically fill with more creatures who come looking for the engine. You control the survivors of a spaceship crash trying to move what's left of the ship's engine through a series of mazes full of creatures who are compelled to destroy it for. I look eagerly forward to Endless Dungeon, the spiritual successor due out.Īn interesting roguelite/tower defense mashup with nice pixelart and some lite rpg mechanics. It's an odd sort of game for Amplitude to have come out with after 3 excellently received by decidedly purist 4x titles, a bit like if Infinity Ward decided to release a Command & Conqueresque RTS title.

Every iteration you will notice new, particularly effective combinations of devastating devices and synergestic heroes.

But the roguelite procedurality and vast variety of playstyles you can develop with combinations of different heroes, constructions and equipment is Endless. The systems will click quickly in layers of understanding in your mind, but wont save you from dozens of disheartening defeats. The mechanisms borrowed from each archetype are rudimentary if one wants to sound condescending towards the complexity of the gameplay, but straightforwardness can be underappreciated. What to say of its back-of-an-envelope genre-defying 4x/tower defense/roguelite spiritual inspiration? Can't wait for Endless Dungeon when it releases.
