Starbound's default music really just doesn't do anything for me, and my friends do like the songs and love finding new instruments for me to use, but unless I'm just following them around as they mine and not taking any loot, it upsets them. I want to be maybe slightly less useful, but able to add some music to it, like a bard.
I would love it however if Instruments were useful to some degree (maybe provided a little buff and health regen), because I love using the instruments and using the different music sheets I've gotten from online for songs like Undertale - Asgore, but my friends will just be upset if I'm not fighting with them. There is a lot about this game that is gameplay wise useless and mostly for vanity, I can't tell if that's by choice or simply because you guys can't find time to fluff out every idea with a function, but would rather just get the art in (you can't expect yourself to fill it out later, that's never how game developing goes). However, please make sure to perform music that is FFXIV-related.TL DR: Make them give some sort of buff to nearby party members so I can add good music to a fight, have fun dodging, and not get yelled at by friends. New instruments will be slowly added over future updates. In the future, we would like to gradually add more at home-like content similar to this. Individual music notes will be added as an action, which can be assigned to the hotbar to play those notes. We will introduce a new system called “Perform.” This is a bard-specific action, which is unlocked at level 30. sadly there’s no way to manually play those instruments, as far as i know.Īlso FFXIV is adding a “perform” function for bards, with a really funny disclaimer right next to the announcement: Funnily enough all the LOTRO song files have found a new use in Starbound, which uses the exact same abc format for playing songs with ingame instruments.
